US FEDERAL CENSUSES FOR THE SURNAME WOMACK AND VARIOUS SPELLINGS
Here are the Federal Censuses for our Womack Surname with various deviations. You
may be surprised at some of the spellings and where the person came from. I knew
there were some from Germany; and had heard of a name, WOMACEK, from Czechoslovakia,
but never dreamed there were others almost 100% dead on or so close they could not
be discounted.
There are a number of countries I found with the WOMACK name as we know it; others with
similarities that I dared not leave out. Go HERE for that listing.
On some that are not too familiar, I have included a link where you can find a 'brief'
history of the location.
Some of these censuses are formatted and easier to read than others. I did not have
the time, nor inclination, to format most of the larger ones; and, later on none of them.
They can be used as is; and, for the most part, particular families can be picked out of
those that are not heads of household only. The bottom line is, with a little effort on
your part, they can be used effectively.
Appreciate comments on the availability of having all known WOMACK Censuses
in one area without having to 'flutter' back and forth, hither, thither and yon - Are
they useful? Or, am I just spitting in the wind with my time and efforts?
If you find a broken link, or any errors, please e-mail me with where it is and I will
correct it.
So now, without further 'ah-dew,' heah they are:
You will note there are state censuses listed. These may prove to be valuable as they
generally are in between the federal - and help with the loss of the 1890 federal.
The following table lists selected city directories from the states indicated. They range from
the mid-1880's to the early 1940's and may provide some insight on the missing 1890's. As well as
a heads up on the 1940. All of these had to be hand input. In some isntances there was no straight
index and the entries may be helter skelter. I've tried to eliminate duplication; but there may still
be some.
Canadian censuses, as available, are provided because of it's close proximity to the US; and, many
of our people moved back and forth across the border. Scotland is added.
